Potential Site 2

A second potential site for this project is where the former Sway Social Club and Old School are located. The social club has been unused for several years and the Old School is currently home to the New Forest Wood Burning Centre, however both have been earmarked as potential development sites in the village.

The site is located within the village centre in one of the busiest areas of the village due to its location adjacent to the church and opposite the school. To the south of the site is the Gracewell Healthcare Residence, meaning that the site also has a boundary along Church Lane, one of the main routes into the village. The site is therefore bounded by a number of different age groups. From the site onwards Westbeams Road is ​a traditional street with a linear arrangement of houses at similar distances from the street. The majority of these houses are also detached, some 2 storey and others bungalows or chalet bungalows. As the site is to one side of this pattern of develoment and is already out of character, it would not break up or alter the street scene negatively if different housing types were introduced here.
